AGILITY CLASS INFORMATION
For the Beginner or First Timer

WEATHER: Call (702) 658-0085 to find out if class has been canceled due to inclement weather.  Any cancelled classes will be made up before the next set of classes begins.

THINGS TO BRING:

  1. 4’ or 6’ leather or nylon leash
    for beginner/adv. beg. class
    OR tab for novice class
     
  2. Buckle collar with no hanging tags
     
  3. X-pen or crate and ground cover if you don’t want your dog on dirt
     
  4. Fanny pack or baggies or pouch to store tiny treats
     
  5. Treats: Lots of tiny pieces of favorite foods that are easily inhaled. Nothing crunchy that has to be chewed.
     
  6. Toys: squeaky, tug rope, ball, Frisbee, stuffed toy, etc...
     
  7. Water: for dog and handler (well water is available)
     
  8. Tennis shoes or soccer shoes with rubber cleats
     
  9. Motivated (hungry) dog

GOALS OF THIS CLASS:

  1. introduce students to the various pieces of equipment used in agility
     
  2. develop the beginnings of a team (dog listening to and responding
    to handler)
     
  3. students will become familiar with the vocabulary used in agility
     
  4. begin the foundation for the dog’s ability to work away from the handler

OTHER ITEMS OF NOTE:

  1. Be prepared to set up or put away equipment before or after class.
     
  2. Keep your dog (and you) in good physical condition.  Dogs that are significantly overweight will not be allowed to do full height jumps.
     
  3. You are expected to clean up after your dog.
     
  4. Do not allow your dog to relieve him or herself on the equipment.
     
  5. Excessive barking is frowned upon.
     
  6. No choke chains or prong collars will be permitted.
     
  7. There will be NO rough treatment of dogs or people in my classes. No hitting, strangling, angry yelling, alpha rolls, scruffing, ear pinching, choking, etc... If this behavior occurs, you will be “asked to leave” and your money will not be refunded.
